Three Years

Dearest Kayo,

The last three years have been the best, most exciting years of my life so far and I am so grateful to have spent all that by your side. I am so proud to have such a hardworking husband. Even when I get annoyed sometimes when you have to work late, know that I appreciate what you do. Thank you for always making sure I’m happy and for doing your best to make me laugh. Even when I tell you to stop already because your jokes aren’t funny, you still manage to put a smile on my face. We never have boring conversations because you’re so smart and interesting. Whether it’s how TVs work or how to properly appreciate wine or what to do in the event of a zombie attack, I learn something new from you everyday.

Thank you for appreciating me like nobody else does, for being such a great shopping buddy, for sharing in my passion for art and all things beautiful, for understanding why clothes and shoes make me happy, for pushing me to watch BSG which eventually becomes one of my favorite TV shows of all time, for being indecisive with me when it comes to choosing where to eat, for almost always being the calm one during arguments, for not getting mad at me because I never know what I want, for singing to me, with me and around me perpetually, for throwing out the trash, for being such an awesome father to our two little girls. For simply being you, I THANK YOU. I love you, Carlos Cosio, and I’m so looking forward to another year with you. Let’s see what God has in store…

Sincerely your best friend in the whole wide world,

Nica

Weekend Snapshots #6

Yesterday was a lovely Mother’s Day so Kayo took me and the kids to the park. (Summer isn’t in any of the pictures because she was sleeping in her stroller!) There was barely anybody there so we had a pretty pleasant time. Afterwards, we had souvlaki for dinner. Happy Mother’s Day to me! :D

There’s no one like you, Mom!

To my Mom, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends who are Moms or about to become Moms — I pray you have the most blessed Mother’s Day! We are all mothers but what makes us different from each other are the children we have brought into this world, the children we love and care for. They make each one of us unique.

It’s amazing how God brought these precious human beings into this world and specifically appointed you and me to mother them. It is an immense responsibility that is tough to replace and also a very special blessing. So today, my prayer for all of you Moms is for the Lord to strengthen you, lift your spirits, increase the hope in your hearts and grant you everlasting joy. May you also find peace in knowing that God has your children in the very palm of His hands and knows exactly what each of them needs.

And to my Mom…

Now that I’m a Mom, I appreciate you more and all that you have done for me. I now see how much sacrifice, selfless love and thoughtful attention is involved in this job. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Thank you for taking good care of me all these years and, now, for also taking care of my own children. You have taught me and you are still teaching me how to become a great Mother. There really is no one like you. I love you very much, Mommy! Happy Mother’s Day!
